Pecha Kucha - Call for Papers
Pecha Kucha at Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions 2012
What is Pecha Kucha?
- Pecha-Kucha draws its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat".
- It is a presentation method where 20 slides are each presented in 20 seconds.
- Each presenter has 20 slides, each shown for 20 seconds on a timer so each presenter has just six minutes and 40 seconds to explain their ideas - that's it - say what you need to say in six minutes and 40 seconds!
- Pecha-Kucha Night was devised in February 2003 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo’s Klein-Dytham Architecture, as a way to attract people to Super Deluxe, their experimental event space in Roppongi.
- The first presentations were such a hit that they began hosting monthly Pecha-Kucha events, where Tokyo architects and designers showcased their streamlined offerings to crowds of hundreds.
- Pecha-Kucha events are now held in hundreds of cities around the world, from Amsterdam and Atlanta to San Francisco and Shanghai, inspiring creatives worldwide.
And Pecha Kucha is coming to Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions 2012. Our visitors have told us that they love the Retail Business Technology Expo and Cards & Payments Solutions seminars. But they like them to be independent and not vendor sales pitches! But………. they do really do want to hear from smart innovative solution providers too but in a different format. Thus Pecha Kucha! It is a Vendor Theatre with a difference and free of charge to participants.
Our Pecha Kucha theatre will feature 20 presentation each day but each one will last just 6 minutes and 40 seconds – and no longer! Pecha Kucha 20x20 is a simple presentation format where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images forward automatically and you talk along to the images.
A ten minute Question & Answer session will be allowed at the end of the presentation. Half the sessions will be devoted to internet retailing and multichannel and the rest to other retail solution topics. Most participant will be allowed to do two identical presentations – one on each day of the show.
